I grew up between more than one country and more than one language. I work things out by cutting them — balsa for structure, card for mass, plaster for weight. Away from the studio I paint, listen to jazz, and travel whenever I can. What I collect is small: a tile pattern, a worn door handle, the light in a stairwell at four in the afternoon.
Sofie Saymé is an architecture student at the Technical University of Munich, based in Munich, Germany. Model first. Structure is built in balsa at model scale before the design is fixed, mass is tested in card, and weight is tested in plaster. Drawing is done by hand, including on location — the sketchbooks in this portfolio were filled in Pisa and in Munich.
